The seminar/workshop will be conducted by consultants and professionals having broad experience in the installation, configuration, operation models and maintenance of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), also known as NAPs (Network Access Points), and its objective is to present and discuss IXP models and experiences around the world and in Latin America with the aim of providing information and criteria necessary for establishing and operating an IXP in those countries where there is none and exchanging ideas with individuals from countries where an IXP is already in operation.
In addition to being considered a relevant issue for the development of connectivity in any country, goal 1.1 of the eLAC 2007 Action Plan establishes the task of interconnecting IXPs.
The event, by invitation only, is intended for government officials involved in the issue, telecommunications operators, professionals within the fields of information technologies and telecommunications, and other individuals involved in these areas.
