APNIC (the IP address registry for Asia Pacific) with PITA will conduct a training and awareness forum for Internet and Cyber Security on 3rd-7th November 2008 in Fiji.
This is in line with the series of similar programs to be delivered for the Northern Pacific and East Pacific namely in Guam and PNG.
Aims: To bring together ISP and IP Network Operators, Regulators and relevant participants in the field of internet and cyber security
Program will cover the following:
1. Internet Resources Management Essentials
2. Internet Services - Fundamentals
3. Security:
- Devices: setting of equipt and protection, firewall, routing
- Infrastructure: access controls etc
- Forensic:
...Understanding network attacks
...Responding to network attacks
...Mitigaitng network attacks
Special session will cover the following:
(1) Students seminar on internet and cyber security (3-4hrs)
(2) Financial Institutions and Corporate BUsinesses, Government on IP network resources management and Security (2hrs), to be followed by networking reception and opporunties to meet with providers and regulators and other players.
Program delivery will comprise of Seminar sessions, Discussions Groups and Hands-On training (3days) on Internet Services and Security.
