SUMMARY:EPF 12
LOCATION:Lisbon\, Portugal
URL:https://www.peering-forum.eu/
DESCRIPTION:The primary goal for peering forums is to \nattract members and
potential members of \nexchange points to an event where there \nare both
educational sessions and \nopportunities to interact with other \nmembers"
 - Jay Adelson\, Equinix\, 2005. \nThe above quote is taken from a meeting \
nwhich took place in London in 2005 which \nincluded a number of Internet E
xchanges. \nThe purpose of this meeting was to discuss \nthe coordination o
f peering forums. It \nsignaled the birth of both the Global Peering \nForu
m (GPF) and European Peering Forum \n(EPF). This quote summarises the main
\nfocus of the peering forums\; to provide the \npeering community with a f
ruitful event that \nenables them to successfully establish new \npeers\, a
nd extend existing peering \narrangements as well as sharing \ninformation
and experience beneficial to the \nwhole peering community.\n\nThe host IX'
 s (AMS-IX\, DE-CIX\, LINX\, and \nNetnod\, who joined in 2009) alternate \n
organisation of the EPF annually. \nOrganisation includes finding sponsors\
 , \nspeakers\, topics\, location\, hotels\, venues \netc. The event's budge
t is solely the \nfinancial responsibility for the organising \nexchanges b
ut is limited with the generous \nsupport of the event sponsors. The EPF \n
has grown into an event that attracts over \n300 people from the European p
eering \ncommunity. Members of the respective IX's \nare specifically invit
ed to participate\, other \npeering networks are also welcome by \nrequest.
In the spirit of Euro-IX and the \nEuropean peering community\, other \nEu
ropean Internet Exchanges are also \ninvited (one attendee per IX).\n\nMore
