SUMMARY:AIT Lab: Multicast Workshop
LOCATION:Bangkok\, Thailand
URL:http://www.interlab.ait.ac.th/training/2006/multicast.html
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\n\nTo get participants to design and set up a set of
inter-connected multicast networks. The workshop will consist of a set of
hands on exercises for small network teams. The workshop will be limited to
20 participants and those participants will be divided into four teams. Ea
ch team will have a mix of 5 routers and over the course of the workshop te
ams will configure their own network and inter-connect with the other teams
.\n\nAfter having experienced this workshop as a student\, an attendee will
be able to engineer multicast networks within his/her campus/organization\
, to explain multicast engineering concepts to peers\, and\, in some cases\
, to help teach or facilitate future multicast workshops\n\nWho should atte
nd?\n\nNetwork Engineer/Administrator from educational networks in AP regio
n who will be pushing forward the deployment of multicast at their home ins
 titutions.\n\nCourse Duration\n\n2.5 days\n\nCourse Contents\n\nThis traini
ng covers the followings topics:\n- Router Configuration\n- Multicast addre
ssing\n- Protocol Soup\n- IGMP (Internet Group Membership Protocol) used by
hosts and routers to tell each other about group membership\n- PIM-SM (Pro
tocol Independent Multicast - Sparse Mode) used to propagate forwarding sta
te between routers.\n- SSM (Source Specific Multicast) utilizes a subset of
  PIM's functionality to guaranty source-only trees in the 232/8 range.\n- M
SDP (Multicast Source Discovery Protocol) used to exchange ASM active sourc
e information between RPs.\n- MBGP (Multiprotocol BGP) used to exchange rou
ting information for interdomain RPF checking.\n- SSM & other topics\n- Dep
 loying multicast in a multi-vendor environment\n\nMore: https://nsrc.org/ca
