We have been operating a fido system here for the last few years in Aruba. We are providing a free access system to all our users on our primary fido line. Our fido node number is 1:18/21. Modem access on tel # +297-8-56851 System has 3 incoming lines, 5 gigabytes hardisk space, 486-33, 8MB Ram, running on PCBoard 15.21. We receive and post all the fidonet conferences and usenet newsgroups that are send over the bird of planet connect. With the latest upgrade of the PCBoard software we finally got an easy and reliable way to connect with the internet e-mail system through uucp connects. We are having talks at the moment with government officials to look into the possibilities to set up a full internet link. Will keep you posted of the results. We have also an informal link with the Carib.Infoserve system in Europe, who receive occasional news and postings of one of our local conference areas.
