However, from the interactions I've had so far, I'd estimate total national bandwidth at approximately 50Mbps up and 65Mbps down (this is just an estimate). > > 2)TOTAL ESTIMATED NUMBER OF INTERNET USERS IN ZIMBABWE: Approximately 20,000 Internet users. > > 3)ISPs CURRENTLY WITH LICENSE TO OPERATE: There are 27 ISP's with a licence. > > 4)ISPs WITH INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIVITY AND CONTACT INFORMATION: 1. EcoWeb Matthew Chigwende chigwende@ecoweb.co.zw 2. ComOne Tawanda Machacha support@telone.co.zw 3. TeleContract Chaka Bwanya chaka@telco.co.zw > > 5) MOST IMPORTANT CHALLENGES THAT ZIMBABWE FACES TO DEVELOP THE INTERNET: Zimbabwe currently has multiple data companies providing several last mile solutions including fibre, wireless and leased line. There is potential for the telco and these independent last mile providers to increase their capacity and solutions, but the current economic situation has seriously limited that. That notwithstanding, growth in the industry continues, competition among the ISP's has ensured customers are getting the best possible service and network capacity building, although slow, is ongoing. >From a customer perspective, the persistent inflation means ISP, telco and last mile prices are consistently on the increase. This has hampered long term penetration of Internet services into the country. Let me know if you need any additional Cheers, Mark Tinka
