Got the mail for root, thanks Randy, and I plugged in the modem this time. But I'll need some advice on my own address - route!karthala!djinn or route!djinn%karthala.uucp? or neither? And from the rest of the world - an Internet address? Also, mail for the outside world? Did you get the cc to randy@nsrc.org, Randy? My documentation seems to imply that straight Internet addresses will go right through. Is anyone getting any of this? (I'll call back in a day or two for a reply) Iain. =========================================================================== Date: Sat, 31 Jan 98 03:58 PST From: Randy Bush To: djinn@rg.net Cc: Steven G Huter , Subject: Re: Comores test > In the Comores now, so hoping this gets through. It did. One for the scrapbook! No one will be able to reply to you at the moment as the UUCP ersatz-domain does not really work. And very few systems can deal with 'bang paths' (the old uucp system!system!system!user) notation any more. Can you adjust your From: to be "djinn@rg.net"? I have set up an alias on rg.net to forward mail for that address to karthala!djinn. Then you should be able to address me as randy@psg.com, to get the bang path out of your header. Your system will let you say "send all mail to addresses I do not understand to system 'route', which should take care of it. > Also, mail for the outside world? Did you get the cc to randy@nsrc.org Yes. So your mail routing does work. Cool! > Is anyone getting any of this? (I'll call back in a day or two for a reply) Yes! Congratulations! randy
