From: chippo@yoni.stellar.zw (Chris the Elder) To: sghuter@psg.com (Steven Huter) Date: Wed, 8 Feb 1995 02:15:48 +0200 (ZIM) Steven, > I have recently been informed of this IP host and write to you to > verify its status. This host is not currently permanantly connected. We only have a dial-up ppp link Joburg. Most of our mail and news still comes in over uucp. I am led to believe that our leased line (which is 9600 2 wire analog; but I'll put V.34 modems on each end and see what I can get) to Joburg will be installed and running by the end of this month. > Will it provide public access? Sort of. Until we get more bandwidth, I can't support many junkies with Web browsers, so preference will be given to sites that are into news and mail. Perhaps I'll just allow IP connections off-peak time and only uucp during the day, or perhaps allow IP, but just get my router to firewall. We feel quite strongly that until we have 64 kbps or more bandwidth, we are really only experimenting. > Any papers or reports you > can provide re: this host and its developments would be greatly > appreciated. Sorry, but we don't do paperwork around here. > Lastly, can you provide the following information > for the database of contacts: > Date of Entry: Wed Feb 8 02:11:20 ZIM 1995 > Contact Name: assorted creatures > Organization Name: Stellar Systems > Street: 9 Phillips Ave, Belgravia > City: Harare > Postal Code: > Country: Zimbabwe > Telephone: +263 4 730 506 > Fax: +263 4 730 506 > E-mail: postmaster@stellar.zw > Node Name: chippo
