From: kathy@niherst.gov.tt (Kathy-Ann Joseph) To: sghuter@nsrc.org Date: Tue, 31 Dec 96 12:34:21 AST Attention: Steve Huter and Randy Bush 1) A brief technical description of your current network NIHERST's Head Office currently connects to the Internet via a dial-up UUCP link to UPR2 in Puerto Rico. This facilitates e-mail exchanges and file download via ftp. Our divisions (SOL, CHS, Doc Centre, OVP) dial into the Head Office Node to recieve and send their mail. In addition the Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) also connects to the Internet via NIHERST through UPR2. This was so primarily since at the time of their initial connection the area in which they are located did not have International Direct Dialing. 2) A brief technical description of the equipment/platform you are using for your servers, routers, etc. Location Machine NIHERST, Head Office 486 chip, 4MB RAM, 14.4 modem NIHERST, CHS 386 chip, 1MB RAM, 14.4 modem NIHERST, OVP 286 chip, 1MB RAM, 14.4 modem NIHERST, Doc Centre 486 chip, 4MB RAM, 9600 modem IMA 486 chip, 8MB RAM, 28.8 modem 3) Information about your pricing/costs of using your network. We recover costs (with no profit) from the IMA based entirely on the volume of mail sent to/recieved by that node. This covers the telephone costs of uploading and downloading their messages from UPR2 and is based on our local telephone charges.
