Since the list is of service providers, these should be deleted. (They all get their E-mail via UCB) (c) The introduction talks about Internet connections using TCP/IP protocols, providing services such as Archie, FTP, Telnet etc. I think I should mention that unfortunately Belize doesn't have such a connection (nor do several other countries in the list). Instead, we have dial-up E-mail using the "uucp" protocol. UCB exchanges mail twice a day with our Internet access point at Puerto Rico; other sites in Belize then dial in to UCB to route mail through us. Of course, should anyone wish to help us out getting a direct connection to the Internet - for example, if they could get us a low-cost 64kbps satellite channel - we would be very interested indeed! UCB would be able to distribute and promote the use of an Internet link within Belize. On a related point, I'd like to introduce BELINET to the members of the CREAD mailing list. BELINET is the "Belize Information Network", a group of organisations trying to develop and use distance education technologies in Belize. We'd really like to get in touch with anyone who can help us out or who would like to exchange experiences of similar ventures. The UCB E-mail system has been endorsed by this group, and we have our own mailing list. You can send a message to those members of the BELINET committee which have E-mail access by addressing it to: belinet@ucb.edu.bz (or belinet%ucb@upr2.clu.net if that doesn't work). Postings to the CREAD list get forwarded to us as well. ---- Brian Candler or University College of Belize PO Box 990 Tel. +501 2 32732 Belize City Fax. +501 2 30255 BELIZE, Central America
