I and a colleague (Richard Bonugli) were there from 8-13 March '95 assisting folks at the Computer Center of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in Al-Ain in setting up routers, nameservers, PC access software, etc. The line was hooked up about 1 June '95 and the root nameservers finally knew of the UAE nameservers about 15 June '95. Inquiries can be directed to Conrad Dietz, Director of the UAEU Computer Center (itcdietz@pcmail.uaeu.ac.ae) and/or to Mark Fairbanks, software maven (markf@taraq.uaeu.ac.ae). They have a Web site as well, www.uaeu.ac.ae , under active construction. -Jim Fisher jfisher@usgs.gov
