After the VIP FreeNet, in 1995 I established commercial ppp services under the name COBEX, with home page at www.islands.vi along with a USVI guide at http://www.usvi.net We also connected several government agencies, and schools, using a combination of telco lines and wireless links. The telco here has no ISDN, no DSL, no fractional T-1, and no frame relay switch. in 1997 another local ISP started up, which has now been acquired by Atlantic TeleNetworks (owner of Guyana Telephone and Bermuda Cellular) The telco (VITELCO) started an ISP about 6 months ago, under the name VI Power Net. so, I am the first, and only locally owned 'small guy' left... Meanwhile, the VIP FreeNet still has over 1,000 active accounts. We are working on raising the access level of the FreeNet to full ppp. On other fronts, I'm working in Belize and St. Kitts. peter de Blanc
