Advanced Routing Workshop
NREN Design and Peering as part of the UbuntuNet Connect 2012 Meeting

Five day hands-on technical workshop focused on peering design and routing techniques for Research Education Networks (RENs).
This is a workshop in association with the UbuntuNet Connect 2012 Meeting held en Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from November 15-16, 2012.
Workshop Goals
- Train network engineering staff from universities and research institutes in eastern and southern Africa on how to build a scalable routing infrastructure to strengthen and expand the regional REN of the UbuntuNet Alliance, in partnership with the AfricaConnect project.
- Learn how to design robust campus networks, understand different REN models and gain hands-on experience with internal routing, inter-domain peering and traffic policies.
- Strengthen the human network of the research and education community in developing national and regional cyberinfrastructure in Africa.
Requirements
- Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and layer 2 and layer 3 network basics
Recommended Software
- SSH SecureShell Client for Windows
- PuTTY for Windows (SSH)
- Linux/UNIX and Mac OS already have SSH installed. DO NOT USE PUTTY FOR LINUX OR MAC!
