Program description
Workshop Goals
- Train network/system engineering ICT technical team from member institutions on how to design, build and secure scalable and sustainable campus networks
- Learn current best practices in designing and building hierarchical networks using layer 2 switches and layer 3 routers, including where to route and where to switch in campus networks
- Learn best practices and methodology for securing campus networks, including:
- Proper monitoring
- Proper services build-out
- Routing, switching and access control techniques with security in mind
- Strengthen the TERNET technical community (human network) in developing TERNET's cyberinfrastructure
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
- Basic Linux/UNIX command line experience
- Laptop with wireless capabilities
Recommended Software
- PuTTY for Windows (SSH)
- GNS3 for Windows (Cisco Emulator)
