The University of Ibadan successfully hosted the first edition of the Preparatory Nigerian Network Operators Group (Pre-NgNOG) Workshop of the Forum, from 18 - 21 July, 2006.

This workshop was an adaptation of AfNOG Track E0 (Unix System Administration. The strategic aim of the workshop was for the host-institution to maintain the laboratory facility and institutionalize the workshop, so that the training becomes available on a regular, periodic basis. We refer to this workshop mode as "doing Lucy", after Lucy E. Lynch (then) of the University of Oregon who suggested it recently.

It was also aimed to prepare participants for more advanced training at the first Nigerian Network Operators Group (NgNOG I) Workshop and Meeting that will be hosted by the University of Jos later in November, and to improve uptake of Nigerian delegates at AfNOG Workshops.
