Testing what you've learned
===========================

You will work in groups for this exercise. Details of your group are shown in the Groups file.

Look at the diagram in the Address Plan. It shows an Internet Exchange Point (IXP) that you are attached to. The IXP has three switches with two route servers and a copy of the IXP Manager software. The two route servers are peered with the 7 routers. You will be able to connect to the routers from your pc using telnet. You can login to your router using Username: nsrc and Password: nsrc - please don't use passwords like this on your own network!

Using the knowledge you have gained over the last few days reconfigure the BGP sessions to the route servers so that your router is following the best practices we discussed in the workshop.

You should be able to ping the PCs attached to your peer's routers at the start of the exercise and at the end! For example, if you are on pc1-isp1-grp1.ws.nsrc.org, you will have an address of 172.21.10.10 and you should be able to ping:

        172.21.20.10
        172.21.30.10
        172.21.40.10
        172.21.50.10
        172.21.60.10
        172.21.70.10

Create a BGP peering session with at least one other peer attached to the IXP. Make sure that you configure the router so that you prefer routes that you learn directly from your direct peers.
